These are Sahrat’s default rules. Where tables differ from one majlis to another, the difference is a table option, and every option is free.
Chess in Sahrat is a one-against-one game with the usual rules, and a clock counting your time.
1Players and colours
- Two players, one White and one Black.
- Colours are given by a fair draw at the start, and White moves first.
2Moves
- All the standard chess moves: castling (king and rook unmoved, nothing between them, and the king not in check, passing through check or landing in check), en passant, and pawn promotion.
- A pawn reaching the last rank is promoted to a queen, rook, bishop or knight; if you do not choose, it becomes a queen.
3The clock
- Each player has their own clock: 10 minutes, no extra time added per move.
- Only the clock of the player to move runs.
- A player whose time runs out loses, unless the opponent can never checkmate (a lone king, king and bishop, king and knight, or king and two knights): then it is a draw.
4Draws
- Stalemate (you have no legal move and are not in check).
- Threefold repetition (same position, same side to move, same castling and en passant rights).
- 50 moves by each side without a pawn move or a capture.
- Not enough material to checkmate: king against king, king and knight against king, king and bishop against king, or bishops all on one square colour.
- Draw offers: you may offer a draw at any time, 3 times per game. The offer stands until your opponent answers or makes a move. If your opponent has offered and you offer back, that counts as accepting.
5Resigning
- Press «استسلم» (Resign) at any time and you lose at once.
6Leaving the table
- At free tables, if a player leaves and does not return within the reconnect window, a bot takes the seat and plays on; the clock keeps running.
- At paid tables, a player who leaves for good loses.
7Paid tables
- If the game ends in a draw, the winner's share is split equally between the two players.
