These are Sahrat’s default rules. Where tables differ from one majlis to another, the difference is a table option, and every option is free.
Concan in Sahrat is from the Hand family: the same cards and the same turn, with one special move called «كونكان» (Concan).
1Players
- Solo only: each for himself, 2 to 4 players.
- Two tables: Concan (first opening 51) and Concan 71 (first opening 71).
2Cards and the deal
- Two decks and two jokers: 106 cards.
- Each player gets 14 cards; the player on the dealer’s right gets 15 and starts by throwing one card on «كومة النار» (the fire pile, the discard pile).
- The rest is «السحبة» (the stock), face down.
3Your turn
- Draw one card: from the stock, or the last card thrown on the fire pile.
- Lay down melds, lay off on open melds, or swap a joker.
- Throw one card on the fire pile to end your turn.
- If you take from the fire pile, you must use that card in what you lay down the same turn.
- A joker may never be thrown.
- When the stock runs out, the fire pile (except its top card) is shuffled into a new stock, at most 3 times a round. If it runs out a fourth time, the round ends with no winner and is scored as if nobody went out.
4Melds
- Three cards or more: a run in one suit, or a set of one rank in different suits.
- Values: 2 to 10 at face value; Jack, Queen and King 10; Ace 11.
- A joker stands for any card and counts as the card it replaces. At most one joker per meld.
- Joker swap: put the card the joker stands for in its place and take the joker. A run needs one card; a set needs the two missing cards.
5The opening
- Your first lay-down must total 51 or more (71 in Concan 71).
- The opening is flat: once you have opened, later lay-downs do not need to beat anything.
- After opening you may lay off on any open meld.
6Going out, and «هاند»
- A round ends when a player has no cards left. You go out by throwing your last card.
- «هاند» (a Hand): laying down all your cards at once in one turn, without laying off on anyone’s melds. Every point in the round is doubled.
7«كونكان» (Concan)
- A Concan: a run of 10 plus a set of 4, or a run of 11 plus a set of 3, all laid down in one turn. Jokers are allowed, one per meld.
- In rounds 1 to 4: a Concan counts exactly like a «هاند» (−60, and the others’ scores are doubled).
- In the last round: you can commit to a Concan.
- You commit at the start of your turn, before you draw, never after laying down.
- Once committed you may take from the fire pile without laying down, and you may lay down only when the Concan is complete.
- You lay down 14 cards and throw the 15th on the fire pile.
- Completing a committed Concan in the last round wins the match at once, whatever the totals.
- If you commit and do not complete it, you score like a player who never opened: 100 (200 in a round that ended with a Hand).
8Scoring a round
- The player who goes out: −30, or −60 with a Hand (or a Concan in rounds 1 to 4).
- Everyone else: the value of the cards left in hand; Ace 11, joker 15.
- A player who never opened: a flat 100, or 200 in a round that ended with a Hand.
- After a Hand, every loser’s score is doubled.
9The match
- Five rounds; the lowest total wins.
- A tie after five rounds plays one extra round.
- At coin tables (table coins are earned by playing, never sold): with two players the winner takes it all; with three or four, first 70% and second 30%. The winner by a committed Concan ranks first.
10Tables
- Bots only at free tables. A bot that takes a seat plays on with the same hand; leaving never re-deals.
