These are Sahrat’s default rules. Where tables differ from one majlis to another, the difference is a table option, and every option is free.
Sahrat has three domino games, each with its own name and ranking: Domino (draw), Domino Fives and Partner Domino.
1Tiles and the deal
- The set is 28 tiles (0-0 up to 6-6).
- Each player gets 7 tiles; the rest is the «البنك» (the stock).
- With 4 players all 28 tiles are dealt and there is no stock: a player with no tile that fits passes.
- Play goes to the right.
2The games
- Domino (draw): 2 or 4 players, each for himself. The target is 100 points.
- Domino Fives: 2 or 4 players, each for himself, and the open ends score points. The target is 150 points.
- Partner Domino: 4 players in two teams, your partner across from you. The target is 100 points, and the team's score is shared.
3Who starts
- First round: the holder of the highest double starts with it (always 6-6 when all 28 tiles are dealt). If nobody holds a double, the holder of the heaviest tile starts with it.
- Later rounds: the winner of the last round starts with any tile. If the last round was blocked, the player who laid the last tile starts.
4Your turn
- Lay a tile on an open end that matches one of its halves; the other half becomes the new end.
- A tile that fits both ends goes on the end you choose.
- A double sits in line like any tile, and its number stays open.
- In Domino (draw) and Fives: with no tile that fits, you draw from the stock one tile at a time until one fits. You cannot draw while you hold a tile that fits. If the stock is empty, the server passes you.
- In Partner: no drawing; a player with no tile that fits passes.
- 15 seconds a turn.
5Domino Fives
- After every play, add up the open ends: the outer number of each end, and a double at an end counts both halves.
- If the total is a multiple of 5, you score it at once (10 scores 10).
- The opening tile counts too (5-5 scores 10, and 6-4 scores 10).
- The opening double has a bonus: once a tile sits on both its left and its right, it also opens an end above and below, so there are 4 ends. A double played later is an ordinary tile.
6Ending a round
- «دومينو!»: the player who lays his last tile wins the round and scores the pips left in every opponent's hand. In Partner you score both opponents' pips, never your partner's.
- In Fives: the count at the end of the round is rounded to the nearest 5 (7 becomes 5, 8 becomes 10).
- «قفلت» (blocked): if nobody can play and nothing is left to draw, the lowest hand wins and scores the others' pips as above. If two sides tie for the lowest, nobody scores (in Partner, two partners tied for lowest still win it).
- The round result shows for 10 seconds, then the next round starts.
7Winning
- The game ends when the top score reaches the target (100, or 150 in Fives) and nobody shares it.
- If players tie at the top, one more round is played.
- In Fives the target is checked at the end of the round, not in the middle of it.
