These are Sahrat’s default rules. Where tables differ from one majlis to another, the difference is a table option, and every option is free.
Oona is a fast game: the goal is to get rid of your cards before everyone else. There is also «أونا بلس» (Oona Plus), where draw penalties stack.
1Players and tables
- Solo: each for himself, 2 to 6 players.
- Teams: four players, your partner across from you.
- Oona: the normal table, no stacking.
- Oona Plus: the same game, but you can stack «خذ ثنتين» (Take two) and «لوّن وخذ أربع» (Colour, take four) (see "Stacking").
2Cards and the deal
- 108 cards in four colours: saffron (with a palm), turquoise (with a dallah), burgundy (with a star) and indigo (with a crescent). Each colour has its own shape, so you can tell them apart without the colour.
- Each colour has: one 0, two of each number 1 to 9, and two of each action card: «وقّف» (Stop), «رجّع» (Turn back) and «خذ ثنتين» (Take two).
- There are also 4 «لوّن» (Colour) and 4 «لوّن وخذ أربع» (Colour, take four).
- Each player gets 7 cards.
- The top card of the stock is turned onto «الكومة» (the pile). If it is an action or colour card, the next card is turned until a number card comes up.
- The player after the dealer starts. Play goes to the right, and the deal moves each round.
- When «السحبة» (the stock) runs out, the pile (except its top card) is shuffled into a new stock.
3Your turn
- Play a card that matches the colour, number or symbol on the pile.
- «لوّن» and «لوّن وخذ أربع» match anything, and you name the next colour.
- You may draw instead of playing, even if you have a playable card. You draw one card: if it can be played you may play it at once, or keep it and the turn passes.
- A turn is 12 seconds.
4Action cards
- «وقّف» (Stop): the next player loses his turn.
- «رجّع» (Turn back): the direction of play flips. With two players it works like «وقّف».
- «خذ ثنتين» (Take two): the next player draws 2 and loses his turn.
- «لوّن وخذ أربع» (Colour, take four): you choose the colour; the next player draws 4 and loses his turn. You may play it only if you hold no card of the current colour.
5«أتحداك» (the challenge)
- The player hit by a «لوّن وخذ أربع» can say «أتحداك!» (I challenge you!).
- If the player cheated (he held a card of the previous colour): he draws 4, you draw nothing, and you play your turn.
- If he did not cheat: you draw 6.
- You can challenge only a single «لوّن وخذ أربع» that nobody stacked on.
6«باقي وحدة!» (one card left)
- Whoever plays his second-last card must press the «باقي وحدة!» button, before or while playing it.
- If he forgets and is caught, he draws 2 cards.
- Any opponent can press «صدتك!» (Caught you!) until the next player acts (plays or draws), and for at least 2 seconds after the card lands.
- A partner cannot catch his partner.
7Stacking in Oona Plus
- You may answer «خذ ثنتين» with «خذ ثنتين» or «لوّن وخذ أربع», and answer «لوّن وخذ أربع» with «لوّن وخذ أربع».
- The first player who cannot answer draws the whole total and loses his turn.
- There is no limit to the stack, and «وقّف» and «رجّع» do not let you dodge it.
8Scoring and winning
- One round: the first player to go out wins.
- The others are ranked by the fewest card points left. A tie goes to the player with fewer cards, then to the one who played earlier.
- Card points: a number card is its face value; «وقّف», «رجّع» and «خذ ثنتين» are 20; «لوّن» and «لوّن وخذ أربع» are 50.
9Teams
- Your partner sits across from you, and the team wins when either partner goes out.
- No «صدتك!» and no «أتحداك» between partners.
- At coin tables the prize is split between the two partners.
10Coin table prizes
Table coins are earned by playing, never sold:
- 2 players: the winner takes it all.
- 3 or 4 players: first 70%, second 30%.
- 5 or 6 players: first 60%, second 30%, third 10%.
