These are Sahrat’s default rules. Where tables differ from one majlis to another, the difference is a table option, and every option is free.
Trix is a trick-taking game for four players, and Sahrat has four versions of it: Trix, Trix Partner, Trix Complex and Trix Complex Partner. They share the same basics; what differs is the contracts and whether you play in teams.
1The four versions
| Version | Play | Contracts in each kingdom | Deals |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trix | Solo | King of Hearts, Queens, Diamonds, Ltoosh (tricks), Trix | 20 |
| Trix Partner | Partners | the same five contracts | 20 |
| Trix Complex | Solo | Complex, Trix | 8 |
| Trix Complex Partner | Partners | Complex, Trix | 8 |
- Solo: each for himself.
- Partners: your partner sits across from you, and the team's score is the sum of both.
2Cards and the deal
- 4 players, 52 cards, from 2 (lowest) to Ace (highest).
- Each player gets 13 cards.
- Play goes to the right.
3Kingdoms and contracts
- The game has 4 kingdoms. Each kingdom has an owner, and ownership then passes to the right.
- The owner chooses the order of the kingdom's contracts after seeing his hand, and each contract is played once.
- In Trix and Trix Partner there are 5 contracts per kingdom (20 deals). In the Complex versions there are 2 (8 deals).
4Playing a trick
- The kingdom owner leads, and each player plays one card.
- You must follow the suit led if you can; if you cannot, play any card.
- The highest card of the suit led wins the trick and leads the next one.
- There is no trump suit.
- You are not forced to play the King of Hearts or a Queen when you cannot follow suit.
- A contract ends once its cards have all been taken: King of Hearts when the King of Hearts is taken, Queens when the fourth Queen is taken, Diamonds when the 13th diamond is taken, and Ltoosh and Complex after all 13 tricks.
5The contracts (Trix and Trix Partner)
- King of Hearts («شايب الهاص»): whoever takes the King of Hearts gets −75.
- Queens («البنات»): each Queen taken is −25.
- Diamonds («الديمن»): each diamond taken is −10.
- Ltoosh («اللطوش»): each trick taken is −15.
- Trix: you lay cards out by suit: each suit starts at the Jack, then runs up to the Ace and down to the 2, and a card goes down only next to its neighbour. You must play if you can; if you have no card that fits, your turn is passed automatically. The kingdom owner starts. The first player to empty his hand scores 200, the second 150, the third 100, and the last 50.
6The contracts (the Complex versions)
- Complex («كمبلكس»): every trick is −15, plus the King of Hearts −75, each Queen −25 and each diamond −10, all in one contract.
- Trix: the same Trix as above.
7Doubling
- In King of Hearts, Queens and Complex, a player holding the King of Hearts or a Queen may double it («دبل») and reveal it.
- Whoever takes the doubled card loses double, and the player who doubled gains the card's value.
- Each player answers once, in turn starting from the kingdom owner, and may double any of his cards or none.
- If the doubler takes his own doubled card: he loses double and nobody gains anything.
8Winning
- After the four kingdoms, the highest total wins.
- Solo: players are ranked by score, and equal scores share a place.
- Partners: the team total. If the totals are level, the win goes to the team that went out first in the latest Trix.
9Time limits
- Choosing a contract: 15 seconds.
- Doubling: 8 seconds.
- Playing a card: 12 seconds.
- On a timeout: the kingdom owner gets an automatic choice, a holder doubles nothing, and a card is played for the player automatically.
10Paid tables
- If a player leaves a paid table for good, the game ends (four hands are needed): he ranks last (with his partner in the partner versions), and the others keep their places by score.
11A fair shuffle
Every deal can be checked once the secret behind it is revealed, on the «تحقق» (Verify) page.
